I still don't know Jack...

...but at least I've met him.

Friday evening we had dinner with a man, Jack, who has lived and worked in Over the Rhine (an inner city neighborhood in Cincinnati) since 1969. He told us stories of his life there over the years, and challenged us to face our biases.

We are seriously considering (along with our friends) moving to this neighborhood. Talking with and listening to Jack helped bring some realism to our previously romantic notions of life in the inner city. David and I are going to take that realism a step further and go visit this neighborhood in mid-August.

I truly feel called to live my life in a way that is different from the American norm. I want to be a part (albeit small) of bringing God's grace and peace to the "god forsaken" parts of our country.
